Brief Answer:
It would be worthwhile to consult a doctor..

Detailed Answer:
Hyperacidity related conditions are life style related disorder. It can be kept under control with proper diet and better life style.

For now, I would start a course of acid lowering medications. With my patients I use esomeprazole 40mg tablets, once a day before breakfast for 2-3 weeks. This is a prescription only medicines and your local chemist will direct you accordingly.

Besides the drugs, I will recommend you be regular with meal timings and avoid skipping food. Cut down spices, caffeine containing beverages, smoking and alcohol if any. Sleep adequately. Start physical exercise.

If symptoms don't improve despite 3 weeks of acid lowering medicine, it would be wise to consult a doctor. Endoscopy and routine investigations are entailed. Your local doctor or gastroenterologist will know about these tests.

Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
Yes, chest burning may be related...

Detailed Answer:
Sometimes undigested acidic contents of stomach might regurgitate into the food pipe leading to burning chest. This condition is known as GERD or simply acid reflux.

That being said all chest burning need to be investigated for possible coronary vascular disorders. I suggest you try the aforementioned remedies. If chest discomfort worsens or it persists beyond the treatment schedule other causes can be explored.

Hope this answers your question.

Brief Answer:
I have no dietary recommendations

Detailed Answer:
There are no specific dietary recommendations except for the ones I mentioned earlier - lesser spices. Reducing caffeinated beverages such as coffee / tea and aerated soft drinks: And yes alcohol if any.

Beyond these I don't have any dietary recommendations.

If you have any other medical concerns that are related to diet, perhaps you can discuss with nutritionist.
