Brief Answer:
Gastrointestinal infection can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms can be caused by a gastrointestinal infection (so called food poisoning). Especially if the pain has started recently. In such case, she should start probiotic intake, avoid any foods for next 12 hours and drinking plenty of liquids.

If the pain is with her for more than day or two, this might be something more serious. Gallstones, peptic ulcer, pregnancy or even partial bowels obstruction should be ruled out.
In such case, she should consult a doctor and have abdominal ultrasound, blood work (including liver and pancreas tests) and urine analysis. Gastroscopy should be considered.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
