Suggest Treatment For Sensitive Scrotal Skin Post Fluocinonide Usage

Question: I had a burning itch on one side of my scrotum and Y was applying Clorotrimazole but It didn't work to my satisfaction. Then I applied Fluocinonide usp .05% and now I don't have the itch but it has developed on the same area of the scrotum a kind of skin that looks and feel like leather and is very sensitive. Was the fluocinonide the wrong medicine to use?

Scrotal skin is already very thin and using a moderately potent steroid e.g fluocinolone acetonide can cause further thinning and atrophy causing the skin to feel different from normal looking skin. However this is reversible early on. I suggest you to discontinue fluocinolone. If required, you may rather use a very mild topical steroid e.g hydrocortisone 1%cream,twice daily. Hydrocortisone is available otc.
