Suggest Treatment For Redness In The Foot Caused By Deep Venous Thrombosis

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: I brought my friend to emergency Saturday afternoon because of swelling, pain and severe redness in her left lower ankle and foot, accompanied by severe headache and general discomfort. She has had several tests which indicate she is in sepsis, and has a blood clot in her upper thigh (but not in her chest). So far, they've given her fluids non-stop, administered blood thinner, antibiotics and some pain relief. But her symptoms are worsening - what was once only as high as a sock is now all the way up her calf to her knee. I'm concerned that they're clueless.

Brief Answer:
Intensive care needed

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I reas your question and i understand your concern. Deep venous thrombosis with septicemia is common. Disseminated intravascular coagulation DIC is common sequelae in such case which your friend is likely suffering from. Treatment protocol is the same, IV fluids, antibiotics, anti coagulants, monitoring of hemodynamic parameters. compression stocking over feet to prevent any remote emboli and pulmonary embolism. Hang in there, with good proper monitoring , she will soon recover and be on her legs.

i hope it helps. Take good care of her and yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
