Question: my boyfriend's belly button has been sore and red for a few days and when he woke up today there was puss and dried blood caked around it. it is still sore and it looks like there is puss inside his belly button. it is sore/sensative but it is not painful. Thank you

I am so sorry to hear about this infection that your boyfriend has. This is probably a local infection and would require minor procedures to address it. Cleansing with an antiseptic like Iodine, 3times per day and gentle expression to get the pus out would be sufficient. Think of this as a small boil on the surface of the skin that is now hidden inside the belly button.

I expect significant improvement within 3-5days. If this fails or he develops increasing soreness/fever, then I will recommend that he seeks a doctors’s consult for examination.
