Seborrheic dermatitis

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have viewed the Image

I can see a few dull red colored patches on chest. I would keep a possibility of seborrheic dermatitis (SD).
SD typically presents with fixed, red and slightly scaly patches on mid line chest. The patches are usually itchy. Similar patches may be found elsewhere like scalp, face (glabella and eyebrows, sides of nose, chin and behind ear)
SD is a steroid responsive dermatosis and therefore I usually suggest my patients to apply a topical moderately potent steroid cream e.g fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream (Flutivate- e cream),2x daily for 2 weeks.
In addition I also ask my patients to use an antifungal shampoo instead of soap for body wash e.g either Nizral 2% shampoo or selsun shampoo.

Brief Answer:
Seborrheic dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Yes you can use the shampoo for body wash on affected areas in addition to the cream for patches as well as can use the shampoo for scalp wash.
I would advice you to avoid hair oil. Oil exacerbates dandruff.
