Question: I had a panic attack over a month ago due to ingesting marijuana

The palputations and high heart reoccur and the anxiety comes and goes .

Why is this? I never had any of this prior eating a snall amount of marijuana.

Note: i am not a drig user abd have a family and good job. I ate this as an exeriment and thought it might be a nice exoerirnce . But i was very wrong.

Brief Answer:
The anxiety attacks most probably are not because of taking marijuana once

Detailed Answer:

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

Marijuana and all the drugs are stimulants and they give fast heart rate and palpitations.
If you haven't used it anymore though, I don't think that the symptoms you have are related. That is because the marijuana is not anymore in your blood, so cannot stimualate your heart anymore.

So, lets treat them as anxiety attacks, unrelated to the marijuana.
See what else might have triggered them. Have you had anything changed in your life in the last 6 months that might have overstressed you? - any loss in your loved ones? A stressful job? Financial or other problems?

Sometimes the trigger cannot be identified.
My recommendations are:
- When the symptoms start, get out in the fresh air and take slow deep breaths.
- If you can start walking or running, that would be very helpful.
- Do things you enjoy at least every day: get out and meet friends, read books, pain, ect.
- Have a healthy lifestyle with a healthy diet and plenty of fluids.
- About drinks that might stimulate you like energic drinks or drinks who have caffeine.

Hope this practical advices are helpful and that I answered your question.

hello doctor I am a 54 year male 5.7 weigh 174 pound and recently I went to the hospital because I had shortness of breath ,what I felt was that my throat was getting tight and Icould not breath easy,in the hospital they could not find anything wrong and they diagnosis was that I had a panic attack and gave me a pill alprazolam 0.25 mg following days I have felt the shortness of breath at times but mostly when I eat passing the stage of satisfied to be feeling full,my doctor recomended me to see a cardiology which I did and he found on the stress test that as I understod the bottom part of the heart is not getting enough flow ,all the other 2 test he did pass ok,so he is going to performe a cardiac catherization to be sure that is not the problem of my shortness of breath, my question is ,is this procedure painfull, what will I feel and usually how many days I will be not able to work

most nights i seem to have a problem sleeping as my heart seems to be beating too fast and once ive set my mind on it it doesn t stop. to begin with i had panic attacks as i smoke marajuana and im quite a stressed individual but now my chest hurts regularly, and when i try fall asleep at night i ll be woken up all of a sudden struggling for breath. even after a walk or just going out with some friends my heart starts to pound, i m really really worried, if i know i can t die because of it i d be so much more relaxed but i m sure it s something more than a panic attack.
