Question: I have a mole that I have had for years. It recently flaked off and left a light brown pigment, uniform in color. It now appears as if it is growing back. Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
if flaked off then probbably not suspicious

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM. It would be good if you could post photo of it.
Moles that are for many years present, and flake off, rarely become something to be worried about. Some changes are expected, since skin around mole will heal and there may be another pigmentation in this area. But if there is rapid grow, irregular borders, different colours inside the mole, redness or pain, you should see dermatologist. Also, avoid sunlight in next 4 weeks.

Wish you good health.
