Question: Reoccurring iron problem. 6 units of whole blood and 3 iron infusions last year. This month below 6 on my iron lab plus 6 other blood chemistry tests for white and red blood cells all low. Thyroid meds, iron by mouth, B-12. Previous history, Melanoma left calf XXXXXXX level 4, removed, lymphatic leg as a result, clear of that cancer since 1990. Gall bladder removed, kinked bowel 6, repaired. Found hernia in upper stomach opening and diverticulitis. No signs of bleeding anywhere. This month, faint, dizzy, weak. Result hospital and 2 units of whole blood. Problem, widow alone, dealing with handicapped lymphatic left leg broken 4 years ago breaking hip, femur and wrist. Hip and femur still giving me pain, limited to where and what I can do, go, etc. 100 miles from any metro and dealing with rural clinic. Why can't I gain some strength or is it as simple as they say...Age. YYYY@YYYY XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
Stop iron loss from your body.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

You mention having an iron problem for which you have tried every remedy you could find, right? I suggest that we solve this problem. There is a definite iron loss from your body. I can think of parasites, bleeding hemmorhoids and anemic blood disorders here, that are removing the iron out of your body through occult blood loss. I suggest you get scanned for these conditions first. This is a new way of looking at your problem. Instead of ingesting more iron, you must prevent loss of iron.

Your history of past illness does not affect this problem of yours.

Your opinions about this diagnosis are important.
Do get back to me.

I go in Wed. for follow up blood test. I will ask DO Dr. Osborn about the parasite and loss of iron from other source. I do not have hemorrhoids rids so that will eliminate this. I have traveled extensively out of United States, but always thought I was careful about water, food, etc. What can one do about parasites?? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
A single Albendazole tablet banishes parasites.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again!

You are right. It's worth the trip to the doctor to rule out, and zero in on the losses of iron and stop them.

It is as simple as taking a single tablet of Albendazole, just once; to eliminate parasites.

Americans tend to suffer from hookworm more frequently, and among all of the parasites, it is the hookworm that leads to blood loss and subsequently iron loss.

You can banish any worries about parasites from your mind now.
