Brief Answer:
Simultaneous treatment for both the partners

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXX XXXXXXX

I believe you are in the post-menopausal phase of your life. In this phase, due to lack of Oestrogen, the vaginal skin becomes rather thin and also the vaginal pH is changed. Therefore the naturally protective organisms (Lactobacilli) in the vagina extinct. This favours the yeast infection in the vagina.

For the treatment of yeast vaginal infection, you are using some medicine named Encokana. Somehow, I do not get any information of this product. It seems to be a local product in UK. Please inform me the active ingredient of the product.

I would advise you to use some anti-fungal vaginal ovules to take care of the fungal infection. In addition, please use Lactobacilli vaginal ovules twice a day for two weeks and Lactobacilli perineal wash. This will help you prevent the recurrence.

Moreover, this infection can get transmitted sexually. Therefore, it is mandatory that both the sexual partners get treated simultaneously irrespective of the symptoms. In addition to the medicinal treatment, please follow (both of you) the undermentioned instructions:

1. Observe complete sexual abstinence till both of you are completely declared cured of the infection.

2. Shave the private parts clean.

3. Boil underwear.

4. For you: use panty liners.

5. Clip the nails short.

Please report to your Gynaecologist.

I have not had any trouble with this since I began taking the medication, so I am not sure if it is causing my problems now. What is Lactobacilli I have never heard of it and where can I get it

Brief Answer:
Probiotics

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX. XXXXXXX

Invokana is an antidiabetic medicine containing canagliflozin as an active reagent. It does help control blood sugar level. However, it should not be blamed for fungal infection. Uncontrolled diabetes itself invites many infections including fungal infections. So to get rid of your fungal infections permanently, you have to seriously work on controlling your blood sugar; may be you may require Insulin.

Well, Lactobacilli are the normal inhabitant bacteria in the vagina and our intestines. These bacteria are present in buttermilk also. They prevent so many vaginal infections. They get destroyed by antibiotics and in menopause. You can get the Vaginal ovules by different brand names; I do not know in which name they are available in UK. They are also available under the category of probiotics. For perineal wash, Lactacyd is a product available in many countries.

Please feel free to ask me any more advice or information, Ms. XXXXXXX
