Question: My 5 year old son got wart one year back, I consulted dermetologist and he asked us to apply some acid on the effected area and also gave antibiotics to improve immune. The wart slowly disappeared but it looks like it is showing up again on the XXXXXXX place. I could see the skin turning harder at that location. Can warts reappear? And if so what is the best way to overcome them? And are warts dangerous? I am planning to visit dermatologist today what questions should I ask him. Thanks for your help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

i have taken note of your query and i have understood it

warts is an infection caused by human papilloma virus.

Yes certainly they can reappear after seemingly complete cure specially if they were not removed completely or if some part of the infection is left over.

Therefore the goal of treatment should be to get rid of the local infection completely so that they dont recur.

Commonly used methods to get rid of warts is either CO2 Laser ablation Or Radiofrequency cautery Or application of certain chemicals e.g TCA or trichloroacetic acid, specially in children because children can get cranky and resist removal with laser or cautery.

Warts are not dangerous but being an infection they can spread to form more lesions.

Therefore it is better to get rid of the infection as soon as possible.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist for the same.

Regards
