Question: My squamous cell skin cancer on my head has returned following surgery last July
at Nebraska Med Center, XXXXXXX I am trying to consider my options prior to visiting
the Dr again on Apr 28. A biopsy a couple weeks ago here in SD confirmed its return.
Do you have any suggestions for therapy regarding my case? I have been reading
books and searching the internet for a good answer that will not cost me a lot of
money since I'm retired. Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Targeted molecular therapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Early-stage HNSCC head and neck squamous cell carcinoma disease treatment is with either surgery or radiation alone. advanced disease at stage III and IV has little success with a single modality treatment. Long-term survival rates in advanced-stage HNSCC despite multiple modality treatments like surgery, radiation and chemo have not increased significantly. Targeted molecular therapy including monoclonal antibodies, gene therapy, and other therapies, has minimal side effects on normal cells of the body, unlike broad and conventional modalities such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy which have associated long term morbidities. These can also be used as a complement to the other existing therapies. You may discuss these options with your doctor.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
