Question: I've had hives for over a week after having an allergic reaction to a medication. I was given medrol, benadryl, zyrtec, and pepcid to take for my hives. The medrol seemed to only make things worst. After being off medrol, my hives came back with a vengeance and now I'm covered from head to toe in hives. I went to my primary care and he said to keep a food diary and continue with zyrtec, benadryl and pepcid. Still no relief. What can I do next to clear the hives and ease the rich once and for all?

Brief Answer:
Start combination of anti allergic and antihistamines drug.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of allergic skin hives is more.
You should ask your doctor about starting combination of antihistamine and anti allergic drugs.
In antihistamines, fexofenadine is very good for skin allergy. In anti allergic drugs, montelukast is very good. And combination of both is easily available in market.
So better to start this combination.
Also ask about steroid containing cream for local application. It is having excellent effects on skin hives.
Since all these drugs are prescribed medicines, you need doctor 's prescription for them.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
