Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Penis

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Dec 2016
Question: I've had what looks and feels like a rash on my penis for the last 12 weeks starting just a few days after I had unprotected vaginal sex with someone. I've have multiple 10-panel STD tests and I've had both my PCP and urologist tell me multiple times each that I don't have an STD but it's been difficult to disregard the timing and symptoms.

I have experienced a significant amount of anxiety over this. To the point where my PCP put me on Zoloft to help relieve my anxiety. The doctors are all telling me this is psychosomatic. What could this be and what should I do? See a dermatologist? The rash is uniformly red about half way down the shaft starting at the corona of the penis glans. The head of my penis has a purplish color to it since this started and has been very sensitive to rubbing on anything including just walking around normally rubbing on my underwear. It's only been 3-5 days now where the constant urge to urinate has subsided.

Brief Answer:
Consult a dermatologist, upload pictures

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
According to your complaints it could be either psychosomatic out of the anxiety you have been experiencing or due to some specific skin disease.
You need to consult a dermatologist for the same.
I would also recommend you to upload the photographs of the affected areas so that I can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly.

I'm uploading pictures. A few more specifics of the symptoms:

I was up until about 10 days ago feeling stinging/minor burning sensations on the skin surface but that has subsided notably but not totally the last 3-5 days

I also noted that for a few days this week there was a noticeable amount of skin flecking off the head.

No burning nor pain during urination or ejaculation since this started though I do feel a constriction due to an inflamed glans penis or maybe urethra inflammation.

The pictures I'm uploading are from first thing in the morning when the visual manifestation of the symptoms are at their worst. It seems to look better as the day progresses.

Thank you doctor.

Brief Answer:
Seems to eczematous reaction

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it is not looking like any sexually transmitted disease.
It can be some nonspecific eczematous or inflammatory reaction on the penile skin.
I would recommend you to apply steroid like cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 10-14 days.
This should help in improving your problem.
If the result seems to be less than satisfactory consult a dermatologist.
