Question: this is a rash on my inner thigh. it is very bothersome. it doesn't itch but hurts if I don't sit a certain way. it kinda looks like there is a boil there and then small scratches around it.. I don't know how the scratches got there. do you know what kind of rash this is, or skin problem?

Brief Answer:
Seems like intertrigo or fungal with superimposed bacterial infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through.

Based on the history you have shared, and the image that you have attached, it seems like infection of skin folds called intertrigo likely due to fungal causes or superinfection by a bacterial infection as well. It's better to keep the skin dry even with corn starch or anti perspirants and using topical antifungal like clotrimazole and antibiotics like fucidic acid along it.

For itching oral anti histamines like cetrizine can be used. Avoid using under garments for few days and get it reviewed atleast once by a dermatologist for need of cultures from the site of lesion if prescribed.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope this has answered your query, If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
