Question: My husband has a rash on his arm that started on the back of his right hand. It flares up with a dry rash proceeded by a few small blisters that pop and ooze yellow to green pus. With each flare up it has creeped up his arm. So what started on the back of his hand is now only three inches below his elbow on his forearm.

Brief Answer:
Herpes zoster

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query

As per the description given it looks to be herpes zoster infection. I suggest to upload pictures to confirm this.
If so, your husband require Acyclovir dose for 5 days. This is a prescription based drug. You can apply calamine lotion to ease the itch sensation. Also anti inflammatory like Piroxicam as well for the flare.

Cortisone, Benadryl and Neosporine does not help.
