Suggest Treatment For Rashes Around The Ankles And Feet

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: Just this evening when I got to the gym after work and took my socks off I noticed a rash around my lower ankles and feet. I did not see it this morning and it did not bother me during the day at work. Also clustered on the very tops of my thighs and spots here and there around my crotch area but nothing on my body above that. They itch but only slightly - so far. Just over the last hour or so they've gotten more pronounced. To me it looks like it might be bedbugs or some other insect. I live near XXXXXXX and have not been to any place tropical. I'm no expert but I can't find any evidence of bedbugs in my sheets, mattresses, couches. I have pictures.

Brief Answer:
Either insect bite reaction or vasculitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photographs and according to me their are few possibilities: either insect bite reaction or vasculitis.
If it is not associated with any systemic symptoms like fever, body aches, abdominal pain, breathlessness, joint pains and urinary problems then you need to worry as vasculitis will resolve on its own in few days.
Meanwhile you can apply cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime for 7-10 days.
This should resolve it.

Thank you. I was hoping you could confirm that they were insect bites or not and if so if they look like bedbugs. Is it difficult to tell from photos?

Brief Answer:
80-90 percent sure that these are insect bite reactions but not 100 percent

Detailed Answer:
I am almost 80-90 percent sure that these are insect bite reactions but not 100 percent sure.
It is difficult to comment looking at the pictures only that these are insect or bug bites.
