Question: Hi, I have come down with a very spotty chicken pox rash all over my body. From my feet, toes, up my legs, torso, arms and even my neck & face! I have recently been in contact with someone that has shingles. Is it possible that I have caught Chicken Pox from them? I am 41 years old though! I thought Chicken Pox was just for kids!

Brief Answer:
It is possible to contract chicken pox from a shingles patient,

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
Yes it is possible that you have contracted chicken pox from a patient of shingles as the virus causing both the diseases is same and shingles can be transmitted during the active phase.
Chicken pox can occur in any person not having developed chicken pox in the past. They can be adults or kids.
Even rarely it can recur twice or thrice in a lifetime of an individual.
