Suggest Treatment For Purple Colored Bump On Inside Of Lower Lip

Question: Hi have a very tiny purplish color bump on the inside corner of my bottom lip. It has been there several months. I noticed it after I woke myself up sucking on that same spot. I thought it would go away. It does get smaller and much paler in color when I first wake up. As the day goes on, it gets darker and slightly larger. Any ideas as to what it is? It doesn't hurt at all.

Brief Answer: Not worrisome... Detailed Answer: Hi back, Thank you for sending in the requested photo. I have gone through it very carefully, and I only noticed a small purplish dot and found it not so worrisome. It seems to coagulated blood to me, most probably due to frequent sucking of that particular place. Once again, I do not find it worrisome, unless you notice that: - it changes the shape (running bigger) - starts discharging - is associated with pain, itchiness, burning, etc. If all these symptoms occur, should get further evaluation by ENT specialist. Until then, I advise to: - stop the habit of sucking your lips - avoid too hot or too cold foods/drinks At last, I have also noticed a small part of your tongue, and it seemed covered with a white lining to me. If this is true, then, should further investigate. Hope it was of help! Let me know if you have more queries! Dr.Albana
