Question: hello doctor ... this is XXXX again with the prostitis symptoms .... the last question is closed so i cant write on that thread ... i just recieved the semen culture test and itr reported NO GROWTH .... PUS CELLS: OCCASIONAL ..... i also did a PSA blood test and it was 0.48 ng/ml which was normal .... so how can the WBC in the semen be high (4 i have sent you that report is my last thread ) ? and yet there be no growth? did the lab mess up with the culture?I am now on levoflaxin for the last week and i have very few symptoms again ... my urologist tells me to continue levoflaxin for 2 more weeks ... should i?

Thanks for writing again .Presence of WBC is an indication of natural body reaction(Natural defence mechanism of body) to infection and it is not necessary to have growth of a bacteria in a culture medium .The infection might have subsided by antibiotics that you are taking since a long time .

Do not worry and note that Prostatitis takes long time to get cured hence one has to take antibiotics fr a long time (4-6 weeks)
