Suggest Treatment For Prostate Cancer
Question: My father has had radiation for prostate cancer several years ago and has to do in and out catheter and had a little trouble yesterday day getting it in. And now is having some dark stools. Could there be any way he could has cause a tear in his rectal area?

It is very unlikely.
The catheter would be placed in the urethra which is running through the penis. It would enter the bladder.
This is not connected to the anus or rectum.
He would have had to exert a lot of force to tear through the bladder then rectum.
He would more likely have blood in the urine from the traumatic catheter entry.
Dark stool implies that there is an issue with the bowel. It can be due to bleeding though it can also be due to iron supplements or the use of peptobismol.
The use of medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen etc can sometimes cause bleeding to occur.
It may be best for him to be seen by his doctor if the dark stool continues.
