Brief Answer:
yes you are diabetic but under control

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome to HealthcareMagic .

According to your hba1c report you are diabetic in early stage . Less then 5.7 is non diabetic. 5.7 to 6.4 is increased risk of diabetes and more then 6.5 is diabetic. 6.8 falls under diabetic group in early stage.

You are diabetic but under control. So continue diet, excercise and weight reduction. When you got your hba1c probably that time your blood sugar levels might be high but the later readings are within normal limits . That suggest that your blood sugar may be controlled well by diet and exercise without need of drugs.

Hope I have answered your query . If any further queries are there I would love to help .

Ok.yes, i will be continuing with my weight loss, till the time i reach my desired weight level (65-70) kg. Just wanted to ask...even after reducing weight and getting hba1c down to about 5-5.5, now will i never be able to eat somethng sugary? Also, is this type 1 or type 2 diabetes? Lastly, given that i am not taking sugar at all, is there any risk that i may face some problem related to low sugar?

Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Its good to reach your goal of weight and I appreciate your effort and reduced weight in short duration. Once your hba1c is controlled and reaches normal range occasionally you may take sugary foods.

That time you need to cut down intake of other foods if possible. You are suffering from type 2 diabetes since your sugar levels are controlled by excercise and diet. Type 1 starts in younger age and it wont be controlled on diet and exercise.

If you don't take sugary items you are unlikely to suffer from low sugar as you will be getting it from other carbohydrate intake and body storage. But in circumstances when you are fasting or having loose motion or vomiting you may get low sugar. That time you need to take sugary items to gain energy and also check you blood sugar levels.

Also keep a check on your blood sugar levels .

Hope I have answered your query . If any further queries are there I would love to help.
