Suggest Treatment For Pneumonia And Bronchitis

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jan 2015
Question: In November I was told I had to take breathing treatments while I was at the hospital as the alveoli at the bottom of my lungs had collapsed and I was at risk for developing pneumonia....that was several weeks ago but I have not had any follow up treatment. The last two days I feel like I have developed bronchitis and am having a hard time with a drycough etc. what can you tell me about that and what should I tell my internist about it tomorrow?

My question is psychiatric. I followed the advice of a psychiatrist here about my ex boyfriend, I guess he considers me ex now as he returned our Chanukah gift this morning. Neighbors found it under my car....I am heartbroken as this man refuses to have anything to do with me...he recently unblocked and blocked his email address but now I am sure he must have changed it as he lets all our email go through...we are so sad and angry and confused and don't know what to do anymore..if only he would at least talk to us and let us know what is going on....I guess we need to give up on him....

Brief Answer:
For bronchitis you may need antibiotic, you should give up on boyfriend

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

For your respiratory problem of bronchitis, I think you are need of antitussive, anti allergic, decongestant and antibiotic medicines depending upon examination findings.Your doctor may suggest chest xray if he finds anything significant on auscultation.

I have gone through all your past queries.

Your ex boyfriend has likely paranoid schizophrenia and you seem to be in depression.
Considering issues of returning gifts, blocking e XXXXXXX and avoiding you, suggests that he cannot be involved in serious relationship at this stage of illness. Being ex-girlfriend as well as human, I can understand that you want to help him. But please understand that many patients of such illness do not have insight about reality and they consider everyone as their enemy. In such situation, you can't do anymore.Whatever can be done is by him or his family members who can consider treatment for him even forcefully according to laws. This illness is with poor prognosis in most of the cases.

Better to concentrate on your physical and mental health and just pray for him that he can be stable. Otherwise there is no need to do anything actively as you have tried your best already. If by chance he comes for help, you can on ground of humanity. But in my opinion, serious relationship can be again problematic with him considering poor prognosis of schizophrenia.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help more.

regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
