Suggest Treatment For Plugged Sensation In The Ears

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Mar 2017
Question: have had plugged ears for months now that come and go throughout the day from plugged tight to completely gone---use a netti pot morning and night, take a decongestant with limited success, use hay fever spray in nose 3 times daily and am very concerned about getting on an airplane with the plugged ears since they don't seem to be getting any better or worse---have been to an audiologist and have hearing aids that help when they are not plugged but have limited effect when plugged---any ideas??

Brief Answer:
EUSTACHIAN TUBE DYSFUNCTION

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic and thanks for putting up the query
You are having ear plugging probably due to eustachian tube blockage. This might be due to nasal allergy or nasal congestion.
Please send me the pictures of your audiometry report and also get a x-ray paranasal sinuses done and send me.
If you will be having any nasal disease, treating it will clear ear blockage. Secondly a tympanotomy can be done to normalize the ear pressure and hence the ear plugging will be fine. I can suggest you better if you send me the reports.
For the time being, take an oral decongestant and nasal decongestant drops.
Some home remedies that are helpful like taking steam inhalation, chewing a gum etc.

Any further questions are always welcome.
Thanks and regards
