Brief Answer:
Type of worms needed from the lab.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Combatrin and Vermox are used to treat mainly pinworms.

If you continue expelling worms and eggs after periodic use ( two weeks interval usually) of Combatrin or Vermox, then maybe your infection is not pinworms, or the treatment is ineffective.

Some patients unfortunately result resistant against the treatment.

If there is resistance to treatment, then a hospital admission is needed to evaluate better the condition and to treat the infection.

The treatment is strongly related to type of worms found by lab.

Metronidazole is used in some cases with success.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Thank you Doctor for your prompt reply. Do you think it's advisable to request my GP to prescribe me with metranizadole as a last resort. If if does not clear up I will then request a hospital admission.

Do you think the expelling of these worms will ease soon after my Vermox 500 ml last evening or will this continue until I take more medication. I am resistant to a lot of medication and I usually have to be given a higher dose of painkillers and other medication more so than others. I failed mention this to my Doctor and will do so tomorrow. Do you think that would help. Thanks for your help it is appreciated.
Oh by the way my Doctor had me carry out a stool test but it did not show anything. However I read online that a regular stool test is always negative and that a particular stool test needs to be carried out to determine if I have parasites. Is this correct?

Brief Answer:
Metronidazole could help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for asking back XXXXXXX

Metronidazole could be used as tables at home too, besides in the hospital, so, I think you should give a try before requesting an admission.

Results of Vermox use will be seen after two weeks when the worms reproductive cycle ends.

Antiparasitics and antibiotics effects are related more to microorganisms resistance than the patient itself.

Again, it is very important to identify by lab the worm type. It is correct that special stool tests are needed to identify the parasites. However you can collect by yourself an amount of stool when you see worms on it and send it to the lab.

Hope I helped you. Wishing you good health.

I apologize for bothering you. But I think in my panic I failed to mention that the wos being expelled is not in the stool but out of my anus out to my bottom. I feel a lot of movement ,pinching and itching continuously throughout the day and use lotion to clean the worms and eggs off and take numerous showers and change of clothing. I don't even sleep onyx bed anymore afraid that I will contaminate the bedding. I sleep on a wooden rocking chair. The expulsion was not so bad during the first few times I took combatrin but this occurred 6 days after my last dose of combatrin I took Vermox yesterday as I don't have anymore combatrin. Do you think the expelling will ease off or should I take the medicine you recommended

Brief Answer:
Both Combatrin and Vermox fight pinworms.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again XXXXXXX

If you feel you have worms out on the anus, you could have a physical examination by your Doctor and check it out.

If no worms in tests and physical examination, then maybe Combatrin and Vermox did their job, you probably now only have this idea of having the worms in your body.

So, if the complete check up doesn't show any worms, you have nothing to worry about and don't need more treatment.

Again, if you see worms and eggs you can collect them by yourself and send them to the lab or your Doctor.

Hope this helps. Best regards.

Thank you for your reply. I do have worms and eggs still coming out of my Anus and will call my Doctor and tell him this. I know I do sound paranoid, but what I have is true. Only hoping it is not, and will end soon. After the Vermox on Saturday, the amount of worms and eggs coming out ( in know this, as I clean with toilet paper and some lotion) have decreased just a little bit, but they are there all the same. And, I also know when they are coming out as they kind of pinch my Anus before they do. I needed a second opinion and you have helped me immensely by recommending the Metronizadole and if that does not work, will enter Hospital and get treated. Thanks again. for all your help.

Brief Answer:
In my opinion you should use Metronidazole.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again XXXXXXX

I don't have doubts about the fact you had or having still worms.

I just want to help you and I'm saying that if you continue having worms, there is need to exactly name their kind in order to properly fight them.

Pinworms usually are treated by Combatrin or Vermox, but in rare cases there is resistance.

If so, Metronidazole helps in further treatment.

This still needs to be evaluated after treatment.

In resistance cases, hospital admission is needed for a more intensive treatment.

Hope I helped you. Best regards.
