Suggest Treatment For Pimple On The Forehead

Question: Hi Doctor,
my father is 53 years old, otherwise healthy with controlled hypertension only.
about 2 months ago he developed an abscess on his thumb out of nowhere which had to be drained in the ER and he got better from it.

about 2 weeks ago he developed a pimple on his left side of the forehead which got better by itself, and now 3 days ago he got a big pimple that is very protroded on his right side of the forehead above the cheek, between the frontal and temporal bones I guess.

To describe it,
there is clear sign of edema under the pimple and at the end of it is a dry yellow that's closed.
He also complains of severe pain and headache and he can't sleep on his right side during night.

how can we treat this? should i try to break a pimple and then apply some creams or what should we do exactly?
What is the cause of this kind of pimples and is the thumb access related to this pimple?

Brief Answer:
Folliculitis, oral & topical antibiotics & anti inflammatory medicines

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and he seems to have developed folliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicle.
Do not break it.
If I was his treating doctor I would recommend him to take topical and oral antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicines.
I would recommend him tablet cephalexin 500 mg twice daily for 7 days and apply mupirocin cream on the pimple twice daily.
Also take anti inflammatory medicines like tablet ibuprofen.
These are prescription drugs and he needs to see a doctor to get them.
The cause of these pimples is probably a bacterial infection.
As he is having recurrent eruptions get his blood sugar levels checked.
The thumb abscess was also a bacterial infection.
