Question: I have been diagnosed with phase three degenerate disc disease. I am going through laser treatment presently , my problem is I can't find a MD besides my chiropractor who believes me. I live in pain and don't sleep all that well. Any suggestions ?
I have used Flexeril and Naproxen. I don't get much sleep and have found work to be hard. Please give some hope, the doctors here don't even believe me with the exception of my chiropractor

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the problems that you are facing. Degenerative disc disease can be really be painful making the situation really difficult for you. The management of such a condition can be active or passive. Apart from the Chiropractic manipulations and pain meds, there is role of interventions like exercise, ultrasound therapy and massage therapy. The primary objective would be to strenghten the back muscles since there is bony degeneration involving the vertebrae. Surgical interventions might be requried in more severe cases. I would suggest you to get a neurosurgical consultation done to know whether you need surgical interventions. I completely understand your situation and believe in what you are saying. I am sure that the doctor would understand it too. Unless you go for surgical management, a physical therapist can be helpful in your situation.

I understand that you have sleep problems. You might ask your doctor to prescribe some anxiolytics like alprazolam so that you can be better able to sleep.

Hope that helps.
