Question: My condition has not improved since. I have been taking hot tea to relax my throat but it comes back all the time. I went to clinic and was examined again. The doctor told me tonsils and the uvula are red and swollen. he suspected allergy so was given Ibuprofen and Remidine 10. I hope it will give some relief because it has been more than three weeks now. Sincerely appreciate you having time to get back to me

Brief Answer:
Allergic sore throat, needs adjustments and management. No worries.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

As i suspected earlier this sore throat to be likely allergic and addition of augmentin to be of no use. As far as persistence of symptoms is concerned i believe the contact with the allergen is still there and that needs to be sorted out.Allergies to pet dander, molds, dust and pollen can cause a sore throat. The problem may be complicated by postnasal drip, which can irritate and inflame the throat. And that is why you are still in trouble despite three weeks, Allergen immunotherapy and allergen sensitivity tests are for that help.

As far as hot tea is concerned conservative and home remedy was more than that. We discussed all the options. Let me recall that for you.

Avoiding allergen is mandatory and must. Wear a mask if need be. Know your triggers and avoid it.
Give your voice a rest,
-Sleep plenty at least 8 hours a day.
- Take plenty of fluids and try comforting fluids like hot warm beverages as herbal tea etc. I advise mixing honey in herbal tea and drinking. It helps the itchiness and irritation.
-Gargle salt water. 5 gram of salt is one teaspoonful. Mix that in 8 ounces / one glass of warm water and gargle the throat every 4 hours.
-Garlic water gargles with aspirin in it also help a lot.
-Humidify the air as dry air is the commonest cause for irritant throat.
-Take throat lozenges , they help .

Continue taking remedeine as its antihistamine effects will help. Ibuprofen is for inflammation of the tonsillar pillars.

You should be happy that the cause of sore throat is not sinister and mere an allergy avoidance of which just needs slight adjustments.

I hope it helps. take good care of yoruself and dont forget to close the discussion please. Dont forget to keep me upto date regarding the status. Just relax and dont worry. Its an allergy and you are passed that step to worry for something serious.

best wishes.
