Brief Answer:
It needs re-evaluation by ortho and re-imaging

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through but at the same time it is commendable the amount of work out and activities you do. If is indeed an example for many others among us, who are enjoying sedentary life style with least physical activity. Your life style is an example for most of us.

Based on the history you have shared, it might be hair line fracture or fracture with no dislocation, that is why it wasn't picked at the first place. Since diagnosis was confirmed later on, so now your symptoms might be due to some inflammation of surrounding muscles or tendons. Bone infections are associated with extreme pains and very high spikes of fever so that is less likely. But in any case a re-evaluation by orthopedic should be done and re-imaging with Xrays or MRI may be advised. Meanwhile taking OTC analgesics like acetaminophen and anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen will help with the pain. Use of antibiotics may be suggested but after detailed examination. Limmit the mobility until then and take good intake of proteins and fiber. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.

Thank you for the ego boost about doing things. I do take gym classes and lift weights and swim and ski. Forced bedrest and doing little is hard. I do have an
Ortho appt on Monday but they really wanted to wait a while longer but I didnt. Fracture not displaced, which was good iguess. A question - do things take longer to heal at high altitude?

Brief Answer:
Yes it can affect, but not as much as compared to other factors

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks for keeping me in the loop and your appreciating remarks. High altitude can cause less oxygen flow to the healing tissue and may causes delayed healing but not as much as other factors like infection or impaired blood flow can. So first other causes should be ruled out and proper measures should be taken to avoid those. High altitude is a secondary cause so don't over think that too much. Rest may be needed for few weeks and I know with your activity level, how hard it would be for you, but with these precautions you will be able to rock again very soon. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards.
