Suggest Treatment For Persistent Lower Back Numbness

default
Posted on Tue, 19 Apr 2016
Question: About 10 years ago I herniated a disk in my lower back. I believe I recovered completely except for some numbness around about my right quad. I exercise at least 4 times a week and have had no problems That is until this week. You see, I'm a process server and for three nights, not consecutive, this past week, I sat or reclined in my small car for up to 14 hours at a time. It seems my back was getting worse after each stakeout sessions so I'm thinking that that has something to do with my situation. What should I do? I'm on medi-Cal and will soon be on medicare as I'm 65 years old.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of lumbosacral disc prolapse

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to HCM.

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The symptoms seems to be disc related.

You need to take bed-rest with pain killers and muscle relaxant.

A need for MRI spine may be there if clinical examination shows any neurodeficit , sensory loss or reflex loss.

Pain modulator drugs like Pregabalin or Amitryptiline or Gabapentin may also be taken.
Avoid stooping forward, weight lifting, squatting.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
