No disturbance with bowels. This nausea causes burping and while I haven't vomited I feel like I could vomit - it's like fighting back the nausea. Only one dose of Omeprazole so far, that was this morning. I do have drainage down my throat so suspected this could be reflux - I haven't had any food poisoning in the past. Long term medications - levothyroxin, vyvanse, alprazolam (at night for sleep), and osphena. I tend to eat smaller meals. I tried coffee this morning after the does of omeprazole and stopped after 2 sips as the nausea returned. Today I've eaten a piece of toast, 1 egg with small slice of cheddar cheese. Lunch was a protein shake with almond milk and half a banana. I took over an hour to sip that slowly and have still had nausea.I have an appointment with my family practice doctor on Monday but was wondering what this could be and if there was anything I could do over the weekend to help the nausea go away. Thank you

Brief Answer:
GERD

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the information.

This is very typical presentation of Reflux disease.

Do continue Omeprazole as its the definitive treatment. Slow but effective.

For now, its wise to take prokinetic drugs like Hyoscine hydrobromide (Kwells 300microgrm) for shorter period of 3 to 4 days to alleviate the present symptoms so that eating gets easy.

Improper eating aggravates the reflux you have. Do take Hyoscine hydrobromide.

I believe there is a need for an Upper Gastroduodenoscopy, to rule out any structural cause for the reflux disease.

Avoid spice and fatty foods. Proteins also can cause increased acidity. Carb rich food is good.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.
