Question: I have took 2 doses of azithromycin 4 pills in October and rechecked myself for chlamydia on December and still came back positive then the doctor told me to take another 4pills of 250mg each of azithromcyin and he told me to check myself again in a month and I went 2 days ago to get retested and It still was positive. I had no sexual intercourse with anybody during December or January why is it still coming out positive?

Brief Answer:
You should consider another antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
First,if blood test was done then positive result may persist for few weeks after treatment. If swab test was done then it should be negative few days after the last pill. If this is positive, then you should consider taking doxiciclin for 10 days instead of azitromycin as you next step.Wish you good health. Regards

All of The 3 chlamydia test were urine samples, the first time the symptoms were there and noticeable. It was itchy and it burned when I would urinate. After the first dose it wouldn't hurt anymore but only itched a little and after the 2nd dose I have no symptoms but still came back negative. Could it be that azithromycine isn't working for me and I need to take Z packs or what ever that is called?

Brief Answer:
Hi again

Detailed Answer:
Z pack is same as azitromycin so you should not take it again. If you don't have symptoms,I don't think you should repeat antibiotics course again since it may just be harmful. You should wait for week or two and see will symptoms recur.if not,it should not be treated and you should not do test again.regards
