Brief Answer:
IBS

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

You can take clam chowder soup but avoid it if it contains any food additives like Inulin, FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides), Sorbitol, mannitol, maltitol, xylitol, isomalt.
Antispasmodics may provide temporary relief for symptoms such as painful cramps related to intestinal spasm. Mebeverine works. The drugs are most effective when prescribed in anticipation of predictable pain.
Antidepressant medications like Chlordiazepoxide have several physiologic effects that suggest they may be beneficial in IBS.

You can continue Chlordiazepoxide in prescribed dosage.

Regards

OK thank you, I am also drinking Apple Juice daily. I am anxiously waiting the mebeverine. Will let you know when it arrives and ask what dosage and we'll see if I still have to rely on Linzess to move my bowels. glad to be back in touch. Please acknowledge..... XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
IBS

Detailed Answer:
A diet low in fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and
polyols (FODMAPs) has been shown to be helpful in IBS patients.
FODMAPs are poorly absorbed by the small intestine and fermented by bacteria in the colon to produce gas and osmotically active carbohydrates.
So avoid fruits containing free fructose (disaccharides ) like Apple, cherry, XXXXXXX pear, watermelon.

Linaclotide (Linzess ) -290 μg given once daily orally , significantly improves abdominal pain, bloating, and spontaneous bowel movement. So you can continue Linzess .
