Brief Answer:
provide more information.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concern for bags under your eyes.

Under eye bags could be simple puffiness as they are loose adipose tissue.

They can also be seen as the age increases (aging) or some conjunctival infection or hereditary or due to stress (or inadequate sleep) in which muscles on the face are loses the fat in between them or reduces the tone.

But before going to discuss it further,I would like to know

1) Tell me your age and weight with overall physic.
2) Do you have stressful life or job?
3) Do you suffer from any disease/illness recently or since long time?
4) Do you wear spects or contact lens?
5) Have you undergone any blood investigations recently?

Also, provide me clinical pictures of this fluid like bags under your eyes for better clinical view.

Kindly get back to me with this more information.

Awaiting for your reply.

Brief Answer:
eye bags are generally due to stress over the eyes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the sharing more information.

From your answers,I can say that you are too young to get this kind of problem as it is generally seen in persons above 40 years of age and quite uncommon at younger age.

Puffy eyes or eye bags are generally due to stress over eyes and resultant fatigued eyes appear as bit swollen.

It can be also due to certain genetic causes other than nutritional and non specific causes.

Since you are quite young so the part of aging factor is totally ruled out in your case.

For the management of this condition,

1) You can use a raised pillow and bit higher level of head so that the water should not accumulate under the eyes part.

2) Apply cold compress over the eyes which will help to reduce swelling.

3) In my patients I generally go for trichloro-acetic acid peel or glycolic peel and suggest my patients to apply Azelaic and glycolic acid creams.

4) Avoid foods and beverages which causes more fluid retention such as alcohol, coffee, white sugar, fried foods, white flour, and salt.

Also, keep the carbohydrates to a minimum.

I would further advice you to see a dermatologist to get the best management for the same.

Hope this will help.

okay i will try these things. as this came on very sudden and the eyes appear very bad 24 hrs a day. is there anything else that can contribute to my eye bags? im thinking there must be an underlying reason this has just started all of a sudden.

Brief Answer:
Go for kidney function tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome again,

As I have already mentioned the possible causes of bags under eyes in my previous answers but the mostly likely cause could be the lack of sleep or some times their might be under lying kidney issues (but uncommon).

I would advice you to have your self checked for kidney function tests (creatinine, urea,BUN) and urine to be tested for ruling out any kidney problems just to be on safe side.

You can start above measures as I mentioned to get rid off it.

Also,take care below things:

1. Keep your hands scrupulously clean and do not touch your eyes repeatedly to avoid any eye infection.
2. Give ample rest to your eyes which will help to tone up the muscles.
3. Sleep for minimum 6 hours a day for adequate rest.
4. Avoid dust and direct sun exposure
5. Do not sit for long hours in front of the PC or TV.

Hope this will help you.
