Question: Hi. I just noticed a small pea sized movable bump on the under side of my big toe. It doesn't hurt. What could it be? Should I be worried?

*Small pea sized bump under side of big toe is suggestive of differential diagnosis
- Callus - Sebaceous cyst - Wart - Lipoma - Bursal cyst
*All of these are benign conditions , nothing to be worried at present
*Will suggest to give other details necessary herewith for more evaluations :
- exact location of bump
- consistency , range of mobility
- duration , change in size since beginning , rate of growth / increase in size
- overlying skin color / temperature difference / associated itching
- noticing any central black spot / punctum / any discharge from within
- history of trauma
- toe movements range
- associated other ailments like diabetes / arthritis / any other condition
- clinical photograph of the same would be great help

- exact location of bump (directly on opposite side of big toe knuckle)
- consistency , range of mobility (side to side it moves approx 1/4" to each side, back and forth doesn't really move)
- duration , change in size since beginning , rate of growth / increase in size (just felt it tonight. It's under the skin, feels almost like a blister to the light touch) Almost feels like a vein but definitely XXXXXXX or pea shape.
- overlying skin color / temperature difference / associated itching (skin color is the same as other areas, maybe a bit red but I've been touching it a lot, no itching
- noticing any central black spot / punctum / any discharge from within (no discharge)
- history of trauma (not that I recall)
- toe movements range (normal movement)
- associated other ailments like diabetes / arthritis / any other condition (no)
- clinical photograph of the same would be great help

Thanks for all the details.
* it is Plantar wart / callus - a totally benign condition of the foot.
*Take necessary precautions as under for better feeling :
- avoid wearing fit chappals , tight shoes .
- wear soft slippers till possible.
- check whether your shoes are compressing more towards particular point
while jogging/running if so change shoes or put a foam support inside for it.
- avoid walking barefoot .
- avoid any trauma / exposure to excess cold/heat without socks .
- avoid standing excessively in same position for long period of times.
- in case of pain can take simple analgesic like Acetaminophen otherwise there
is no requirement.
- immerse foot in leukwarm water with added antiseptic liquid / epsom salt
for 15-20 minutes three times a day , which makes it soothing & lessens
overlying hardening / streching .
- avoid excess rubbing .
- maintain your body weight under control .
- Consultant Surgeon`s opinion in case of more pain , increased size, redness
over it, difficulty in walking or any other related issue.
