Suggest Treatment For Panniculitis And Subcutaneous Sarcoidosis

Question: Hi, My wife has been advised to undergo lap Cholecystectomy in next 3 days.
She is already suffering from subcutaneous Sarcoidosis /panniculitis from last 4.5 years . Due to this she has inflamed lesions on her shin bone of her right leg. The Biopsy / ultrasound scan all indicate towards autoimmune disease. She was put on steroids and now she has stopped them. The lesions come and go - twice a month. They stay for 15-20 days and disappear or change their positions from shin bone to calf muscles on right leg only. During this period her ESR is too high.
Now My question is -
Can she undergo a surgery (lap Cholecystectomy) in this situation. Will there be any adverse effects due to high ESR. Is there any cure for this autoimmune disease.

Brief Answer:
She can undergo Lap cholecystectomy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have done Lap Cholecystectomy in few patients with Auto immune disease. There were no Complications during or after surgery. So,your wife can go ahead with surgery.
Raised ESR is not a contraindication for surgery.
There is no permanent treatment for Autoimmune diseases like Sarcoidosis /Panniculitis.There will remissions and relapses.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
