Suggest Treatment For Panic Attacks

Question: My husband is 48 and had a heart attack at 41. He had stents placed in and has been basically fine. He takes the same meds for cholesterol lowering, bp, etc as always. In the past few months, he has been having what I call panic episodes. he will be out working then suddenly think that I am having an affair. He knows well (intellectually) I am not, but feels he cannot stop these thoughts. I have also noticed he sometimes states that someone made a bad comment about him and I never hear a thing. (ex. usually it is calling him a derogatory name while he is in the car driving or the like.) I know sometimes people make comments of this nature, but not at that frequency and when he is minding his own business. Would this be related to his past heart issue?

Brief Answer:
No, its related to his mental health.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I went through your question and I am sure this is not related to his heart issue.

But looking at the severity, I think he needs to get evaluated for mental health. He needs counseling and may be doctor will put him on short course of medication to cope up with this thing.

Please don't ignore, as most patients slowly drift away and their thoughts become too consolidated over period. I am worried at this problem and not the heart. He needs to take guidance of a psychiatrist. Earlier the better.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask if there are doubts.

Regards.
