Brief Answer:
Hello Welcome to HCM

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking from Health Care Magic

Panic attacks are severe paroxysmal anxiety which is associated with impending sense of doom. The symptoms of severe anxiety usually last for 15-30 minutes, but most of individuals with panic disorder also have anxiety in normal situations. The persisting anxiety causes disturbance in sleep, symptoms of depression and a lot of other distressing complications.

If you are having panic attacks and complaints of insomnia and these are causing dysfunctions in social life and personal life then there is need for treatment. Treatment in form of medicines and psychosocial methods is available. You can consult a Psychiatrist for detailed treatment if the condition is severe.

Medicines like SSRIs as Sertaline, Escitalopram, Paroxetine etc are commonly used in anxiety disorder and panic symptoms. For episodic control of Panic medicines like low dose Benzodiazepines as Clonazepam or Alprazolam can be used. These medicines have abuse risk so take these medicines after getting proper prescription only.

Non-medicinal treatment is also equally efficacious when we compare with medicines. Relaxation exercises as progressive muscle relaxation, breathing exercises are very useful in panic attacks. These exercises help individual in decreasing the symptoms. Try to hold the breathing and then count the rate. Maintain the rate of respiration less than 10 per minute. This will cause improvement. For Progressive muscle relaxation you can take help of youtube.

Apart from these you can consult a psychologist for behaviour therapy. Behavior therapy is very useful in anxiety and panic attacks.

For insomnia many medicines are used like Benzodiazepine which are also useful in panic also. Other medicines like Zolpidem is also used which is comparatively less dependence producing. Consult a psychiatrist for detailed treatment.

Hope it helps you, if you have more doubts you can ask again.

Thanks

Hello again

Detailed Answer:
As the panic attacks and anxiety has caused significant dysfunction in your personal life as well as occupational life so there is urgent need to take treatment. For some time as per my opinion medicinal treatment will help in achieving early relief after that you can go for psychological treatment.

The medicines I have mentioned earlier usually start showing response in about 4-6 weeks and treatment must be taken for about 3-6 months. Early treatment will also help in improving your work and personal life.

Thanks, you can ask again if you have more questions.

Brief Answer:
Go for relaxation exercises

Detailed Answer:
As you can't see health professional right now then you can go for relaxation exercises.

Yoga and meditation will help to get control over mind and you will feel relaxed. Try to divert your attention and this will result in decrease in anticipatory anxiety.

Breathing methods I have mentioned earlier also will help to improve symptoms of anxiety.

Relaxation exercises like Progressive Muscle Relaxation Technique is also very helpful. It consists of contracting muscles of body starting from head to toe (or in reverse order) for about 10 second and feel the tension of muscles and then relax the muscles. In some time you will learn the change in contracted state and relaxed state. With time you can control your body in events of panic attacks and this will help you.

In times of severe panic take one glass of cold water and sip it slowly over 2 minutes and take deep breaths along with. This will cause improvement in anxiety.

Taking benzodiazepines in low dose will help to improve symptoms early.

Hope this helps you, you can ask again if you have more doubts.

Thanks
