Suggest Treatment For Painful Swollen Inguinal Lymph Node And Hip Pain

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Feb 2015
Question: Im a 22 year old female. I have a swollen inguinal lymph node on my left side. I noticed it about 4 days ago. It was painful to touch, but is not nearly as painful when I touch it now, despite it staying the same size. I have not been sick lately. I had pain in my hips last night, which radiated down to my legs, and made the back of my knees swell up. (This has happened to me for a few years, and I figured it was because I'm a 5'11 female.) My hips have also bothered me while at work, but I am on my feet all day. I feel tired on a normal basis, but find that I yawn even when I do not feel tired. When I went to the doctor, he thought I was pregnant, however the urine test came back negative.

Brief Answer:
Two issues are separate .

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query in detail and understand your concerns.

Your two issues are separate.

Your inguinal limb node enlargement can be due some mild infection in inguinal area and genitalia. For this you can consult your gynaecologist. Analgesic such as ibuprofen are useful in relieving pain. Antibiotics can be of use to control infection.

Your hip pain needs MRI of both hips to rule out avascular necrosis and other disease.

Your tiredness can be due to vitamin and trace elements deficiencies. You can take multivitamins for it. You are advised to get your vitamin D3 level as it is important cause of muscle pain and tiredness. If found low you can take its supplements.

You can discuss with your Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help.

Wishing you a good health .

Take care.

i had a normal pap smear about 6 months ago. My husband and I have only been sexually active with eachother. I have no symptoms of any infection in or around my genetalia, and tested negative for a UTI (which was not surprising because I have no symptoms). is there a reason that the lymph node would hurt for 3 days, and then the pain go away, but remain the same size? Why would the doctor believe I was pregnant with these symptoms?

Brief Answer:
You can get MRI done to rule out hip pathology

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back

I have gone through your query and follow up query. The limph node enlargement and pain can be due to some mild infection which resolved itself. Once lymph nodes enlarged , these will only gradually reduce in size. You have no sign of infection and lymph nodes are now not painful so nothing to worry. Nothing to be done for it. None of signs mentioned is anyway to related to pregnancy.

Rest of issues of hip pain and tiredness already discussed.

You can discuss with your Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will happy to help you. If you have no further clarification then you can close the query and rate the answer.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

when i first noticed the swollen lymph node, it was up high and painful. Now the lymph node feels swollen lower down, and now hardly hurts, even when it's pushed on. is there a reason for that, (would it mean the infection is leaving)?

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back

I have gone through your query and follow up query. The limph node enlargement indicate infection in area these are draining. Now you have noticed them in lower area but these are not painful so it is likely these also enlarged when upper group enlarged but noticed later. You can keep a watch on these if these does not further increase in size then no need to worry. These will gradually decrease in due course of time. If these enlarge further than you need to get them biopsy.

You can discuss with your Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will happy to help you. If you have no further clarification then you can close the query and rate the answer.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
