Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling In The Leg And Headache

Question: Hello, I am 4 years into severe erythroderma and red skin syndrome from 45 years of topical, nasal, oral and IV steroids. I had two years of zero use and my MD gave me antibiotic nose drops with steroids (ciprodex) and since then my knee tendons are killing me, my ankles have swollen as wide as my now misshapen (formerly slim) feet. The shooting nerve pain when I stretch out my legs in bed is extreme, the left foot is the worst but both are affected. There is shearing pain along the outside, the top is full of sharp nerve spikeness (much more than 'pins and needles') and a zinger zaps through my middle toes. Now, I've got nerve pain shooting out of the tip of my ring finger. The reason I am writing though is, my skull shape has shifted at the top of my forehead, quite a bit and quickly because it wasn't there the last time I had my hair done. There is a ridge in the centre (I see this in babies foreheads) and depressions to the side of that than raised again (but not as much) toward above my eyes. I am iron deficient, have dysautonomia, iatrogenic cushings (40s) WITH adrenal insufficiency (from 20s) caused by nasal steroids, and a POTS-variant (backwards) -- my cardiologist thinks my neurotransmitters are not all receptive anymore so it's hit and miss until my body readjust to only endogenous steroids. I have 'raynauds' (I put this in quotes because I think it is a vascular impact from the steroids and not Raynaud's phenomena), peripheral neuropathy, low thyroid and active erythroderma -- all of which is very painful and debilitating. I get bulb crushing headaches which are positional and would send me to ER in an ambulance standing up (no choice, I bit through their gas mouth piece at one point), I could not sleep flat for 9 months my edema and vascular impact was so severe at first; feet over heart and head over feet. We had to buy a special bed. My BP is very low (70s/40s is common), my cholesterol is high (familial) and my blood sugar is 'okay'. I take Lyrica, hydroxyzine, synthroid and iron supplements. My CRP is always in the very elevated range and I take low dose naltrexone (LDN) which has helped the edema in the past. Now the LDN isn't stopping what is happening. I also use a few red low level light devices to reverse atrophy damage. My question is about the skull shape change.

Brief Answer:
Osteoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

The picture has been taken in two different angles.

I'd you find any local swelling, it could be an osteoma. Do get an Xray of the skull to confirm. This is quite a common skill benign tumour such isn't dangerous but further investigations are needed to confirm.

Please elaborate on if you have pain over the region and if there is any local swelling with rise in temperature.

The headache could be due to Cervical spondylosis which can also affect the position of the head.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Regards,

Dr. Aashish Raghu
