Question: Hi there, this may sound weird but I'm overseas in Europe so I can't see my general practitioner, hopefully you can help

I woke up at about 8am and my scrotum was sore the pain started to subside and it's still lingering but very dull pain, more a discomfort and it's 6pm now, what I have noticed though is a small red area on the outside of my scrotum and is tender to touch,

My testicles aren't sore, my urine is clear and good, it's just my scrotum has this red sore on it, could I have been bitten? Or slept on it funny?? What should I do?

Brief Answer:
Keep close watch.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i understand your anxiety.
As you rightly feel, it could be an allergic reaction to ? insect bite, or some chemical used to wipe or clean the area.
Well, keep a watch over the area. If it's a very small, red spot, it may subside in a day or two. If at all it increases in size, feels very itchy, swelling develops, fever starts, spreads to other sites, then you must not wait to see a local doctor.
Avoid scratching over the red area. Also don't apply any ointment.
Also, don't apply too much soap while bathing, over scrotal area, but there should not remain any moisture there.
Wish you a speedy recovery.

Is it ok that it's pretty sore though?

It's not very big, only on my left side of the scrotum

Brief Answer:
A direct look is best.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Probably, it would be best to send a photograph here.
That will help in looking at the severity of this red area you're describing.
Then, i can also advise you in a better way.
The other option is to get a local doctor to assess it.
Wish you well.

Unfortunately there's no decent doctor with a 2 hour drive and my father would rather wait it out see if it goes away.

Atm it's only delicate when sitting down, it tends to go away when I lie down, it just feels like a gentle squeeze but I have noticed it's going down in pain and the red swelling is almost gone

Brief Answer:
Get well soon.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
That's good news. As expected, pain and redness is reducing gradually.
So, you've decided to wait and watch.
Well then, wish you the very best for a quick recovery and back to routine.
