Suggest Treatment For Painful Bruising And Swelling On Left Hip After Falling

Question: I am an active 78 yr old woman, I fell the day after thanksgiving , landed directly on my left hip bone. obviously a deep bruise developed, accompanied by pain. bruise healed, pain almost totally gone. three days ago I noticed a bulge in the area where I had fallen, it appears to be rather spongy soft, yet with kind of a hard center. I am now in rather severe ain and have difficulty when I first stand up and put weight on my left leg. pain is at hip. is there any fluid that could be leaking from a joint or ??

1.Are you to walk around ?
2.If possible may send the picture ?
Going by the description of injury, most likely it is collection of blood on the sites of buttock.It o's rare to have joint fluid leak like this.
Ice fomentation and thrombophob ointment helps.Your local pharmacist / GP might know about it .

thank you for answering my question. I went to the emergency room yesterday and the Dr. on duty examined the area and concurred with what I just read was your thought as well. that it is a hematoma resulting from the very deep bruise I incurred when I fell. I questioned him as to how that could be as the bruise had gone away. he stated that because it was such a deep bruise, it has just taken time for the blood to collect to a point whereby it has manifested itself as what I am currently dealing with.
His diagnosis served to calm most of my fears, so that I felt a certain relief as I left to continue my days errands. Now, since I have read your answer, noting that both answers are the same . I feel even better in regard to the entire situation..
