Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Ankles

default
Posted on Sat, 13 May 2017
Question: The tendon behind my right ankle has been hurting and is sensitive to the point that I cannot wear a shoe that makes contact with it. It is now sore to the touch and actually throbs at times. A few weeks back my Orthopedist showed me an exercise to help it, but since I wasn't there for that reason we didn't discuss it much. It does feel better when I stretch it by keeping my foot at a right angle to my leg. I try to keep it in that position also while sleeping, but I usually end up with my toes pointing away. Should I see a specialist or is there something else I can do? It's getting worse now almost daily.

Brief Answer:
Hot compress will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in a specific tendon that you have is suggestive of an inflammation in the area- tendonitis. it can be relieved with hot compress and a mild pain killer for some time. Once the pain subsides proper stretching exercises will help in restoring the normal movements of the tendon. Do consult an orthopedician in case there is a local swelling and the pain is persistent.
I hope this answers your query.
