Suggest Treatment For Pain In Swallowing And Bumps In Throat

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Oct 2014
Question: For the past 2 weeks or so I've been having some difficulty and irritation swallowing upon waking up in the morning. Through out the day the symptoms would subside. Yesterday i inspected my throat and found that i have some bumps on the back of my throat (orapharynx) and both my tonsils. Some of the bumps are yellow in color and the rest are of normal tissue coloration. My epiglottis is also yellow on the tip. What do you suspect is thos condition and will it go away on its own?

Brief Answer:
?? Fungal infection or mucocele (harmless cyst)

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query and attached image with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. After viewing your image and based on the description provided, I can put forward two possible conditions that could be causing your symptoms, they are:

-Fungal infection: A fungal infection can easily be treated with anti-fungal medication and complete recovery can be expected within a duration of 2-4 weeks (maximum)
-Mucocele: Is a painless and harmless cyst, which usually is self-resolving. But if at all it does not, then a doctors visit for an hour (tops) can send you back home without the cyst(s)

In my opinion, there is nothing to worry about ma'am. If you are not in any sort of discomfort, then you can wait for a few more ays (3-5), but as you have been experiencing these symptoms for more than 2 weeks now, I would recommend a doctors visit ma'am.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.
