Suggest Treatment For Pain Due To Spleen Injury

Question: I was diagnosed with CLL about 2 months ago- my spleen was slightly enlarged 9less than 3 cm larger than normal
I have been experiencing some soreness and discomfort in my left rib area - I have injured those ribs twice and probably would not pay much attention except for the recent diagnosis -what should I watch for to tell if this is more than usual rib pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Unfortunately spleen injuries usually do not give any pain at all. So it is impossible to tell if the spleen has been injured or not without additional tests. However spleen injury can cause bleeding. Such bleeding usually gives accelerated heart rate, low blood pressure, weakness, pale skin. But the pain is not characteristic for such injury.
So the pain only is most likely caused by ribs or muscles injury. As CLL is the disease which can give spleen enlargement, any injury in the left rib/abdominal area should be checked with abdominal ultrasound.
That is why I suggest you to have it done to be 100% sure your spleen is fine.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
