Suggest Treatment For Pain Due To Interstitial Cystitis
Question: Hi! I have been suffereing with interstatial cycstitis for many years now. I have had every treatment they can throw at me and am willing to try anything. The only time that I get real relief is from oxycocone. Every single month it is a huge deal to get anything for pain relief. I have to fight for every little bit. I don't think its fair and sometimes I will go a few months without anything and suffer terribly just because I can't take it anymore. What can I do? What should I do? I can't do this for the rest of my life. Shouldn't I be seeing a pain management specialist or something? It's not like it's going to go away. Having chronic kidney stones causes alot of problems too. Advice please!!

you want one that is willing to try treatments that are promising but not FDA approved.
Spinal injections of steroids are not likely to help. ONLY have it done if you get an agreement (perhaps in writing) that they are willing to continue to see you when they don't work after trying it TWICE not FIVE TIMES.
Much more compelling to try are:

This is a fairly complete listing of the NON-NARCOTIC alterntives that actually help fix the entire problem in IC. These treatments, although SAFE and looking pretty darn effective, are not generally available. Calling ahead to urologists and pain managment people to see what they have available. Centers connected with Universities are generally a bit more open to newer therapies.
