Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Right Nostril

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Dec 2015
Question: Hey Doc! I had a crack in my right nostril, and after getting a massage a couple days ago I seemed to have picked up an infection on that side. Nasals are clear, just pain at the sight of the crack and my nose is visibly swollen. I've been putting Bacitracin on it. The crack is right on the inside of my nostril - like if you were going to squeeze your nose right behind that area on the right side. Should I go get antibiotics, there is no puss just pain, redness and swelling.

Brief Answer:
yes you should get antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question,
Even without pus it sounds like you have an infection. If it is not responding to the topical antibiotic cream then you may need an oral antibiotic to get rid of the infection. Facial infections can spread quickly so do not delay, see a doctor soon to get an antibiotic and evaluation.
