Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Hand

Question: Hi I was drywalling a suite for the first time so using the screwgun, carrying drywall and laminating drywall (nailing it to the concrete walls with a hammer) (I usually frame so i am used to using a screwgun). After the second day of mostly laminating drywall my hand started to hurt when using the hammer or screwgun or even holding an xacto knife to cut drywall. Now the next day if I open and close my hand its hurts in my hand mostly on the side of my ring and pinky finger and my wrist hurts on that same side ( i broke that wrist a long time ago) and it is a little swollen. (the pain is not unbearable but quite annoying). What Injury may I have, I am guessing something to do with nerves and how long does it take to heal?
btw the pain is mostly in my hand and both my wrist and one side of my hand are a little swollen.

Brief Answer:
Probably muscle, ligament and tendons overuse!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain. From the description of your pain and the surrounding circumstances, this is most likely caused by overuse of the muscles of the hand. This is unlikely to be related to any nerve damage and the nature of this pain is not suggestive of damaged nerves. I will suggest rest and a short term treatment with Tylenol and Ibuprofen to address this. Unless they pain fails to regress significantly within 3-5days, there is no need to seek for further medical help.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
