Suggest Treatment For Pain And Ear Infection

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015
Question: This just started within the past 4-5 years, but whenever I wear my glasses I get a major pain in one of my ears (it varies which one every time). I feel like I have a horrible ear infection along with the pain going into my jaw line. This happens within 2 hours of wearing my glasses. We have tried different weights of glasses & bending the arms straight as opposed to curving behind my ear, but nothing has worked yet

Brief Answer:
The refractive power of the glasses needs to be checked.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr Dadapeer k an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are experiencing pain in the ear on wearing glasses.

Pain in the ear is not related to the weight of the glasses. Sometimes rarely few people may experience sensitivity of the skin over the ear because of constant pressure from the spectacle arm. But this will not present as pain radiating or going to the jaw line.

Being an ophthalmologist I would like to rule out any under correction or over correction or presence of cylindrical power in the prescription. This can cause symptoms like pain on wearing glasses.

Hence you need to consult your optometrist for evaluation of the refractive power of the spectacles.
Do get back to me with the prescription power and refraction reading so that I can advice you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
