Suggest Treatment For Ovarian Cyst

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Jun 2014
Question: ILast week I had a cat scan and it revealed an enraged bladder. We live in a small
town in XXXXXXX and my doctor was not able to be in connection with an OB/GYN
due to the holidays. We ordered a pelvic and vaginal sonogram and it showed
a large, about 7 inches ,cyst on my right ovary. He had run a blood test, and my
numbers were low for ovarian cancer. He said the blood test is not definitive but a very good indicator since it was negative. I am trying to figure out what to do. I am supposed to fly out on Thursday for 2 weeks. I have a marriage and family therapy
practice in Fort Worth. Am I running a big risk by not taking care of this before I
return. It did not appear that I could get in with an Ob/Gyn before I leave? Also, I have heard the options are either surgery or drainage. Any information about those
options would be helpful.

Brief Answer:
Treatment can be postponed for two weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to HCM

You are suffering from a large simple ovarian cyst.
All the relevant investigations has been done and all indicate towards non cancerous nature of cyst.
Since it is large and it is causing compressive effects(Enraged bladder may be related to compression due to cyst),surgical removal of cyst should be the choice of treatment.
Any requirement of further treatment depend upon histopathology report(It is done after surgical removal of an organ).

You can attend wedding plan.Your condition doesn't require urgent treatment,it can be postponed for two weeks.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
Further queries are most welcome.
